James C. McLoughlin, M.D.
Spine Surgery
Dr. James McLoughlin is originally from New York City, but grew up in rural upstate NY. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1988 with a degree in engineering and subsequently obtained his master's degree in nuclear engineering from MIT in |
1990, during which he focused on radiation dosimetry and medical imaging such as MRI design.
Dr. McLoughlin obtained his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1994 and subsequently completed general orthopedic surgery training at Montefiore Medical Center in 2000. From 2000 though 2004, Dr. McLoughlin served on active duty in the US Navy, including time in the Persian Gulf during Operation Enduring Freedom aboard the USNS Comfort hospital ship, and as the director of the orthopedic surgical service for the US Navy in Newport, RI from 2001-2004. From 2004-2005 Dr. McLoughlin completed his spinal surgery fellowship through the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and St. Joseph's Hospital in Towson, Maryland. He has been in private practice since 2005 and joined Southern Orthopedic Specialists, P.A. in October 2009.
Dr. McLoughlin practices general orthopedics as well as specializing in spine surgery.

Dr. McLoughlin is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
